What Williamson County Booking Records Contain

When someone is booked into the Williamson County Jail, a record is created. That record is public under the Texas Public Information Act. Williamson County booking records typically include the person's full name and aliases, date of birth, age, physical description including a mugshot, booking date and time, the arresting agency, current charges, bond information, and scheduled court dates. Release information is added once the person leaves custody.

Some records are exempt. Records tied to active criminal investigations, juvenile offender files, medical information, and child abuse cases can be withheld. If your request touches exempt categories, the sheriff may ask the Texas Attorney General for guidance before releasing or denying the records.

Williamson County is one of Texas's largest and fastest-growing counties, with multiple city police departments booking through the county facility. The arresting agency field in a booking record will show whether it was a county deputy, Georgetown PD, Round Rock PD, Cedar Park PD, or another agency that made the arrest.

Booking records reflect a moment in time. They show custody, not conviction. Some cases are resolved quickly with no charges filed. Others go to trial. The booking record exists in either case and remains in the public record.
