What Ector County Booking Records Contain

When someone is arrested and booked into the Ector County Detention Center, a booking record is created. Under Texas Government Code Section 552.001, these records are public information. Ector County booking releases typically include the person's full legal name and aliases, date of birth and age, physical description, booking photograph, inmate ID number, fingerprints, date and time of booking, arresting agency, custody status, housing assignment, classification level, charge information with statute citations, bond type and amount, court of jurisdiction, case numbers, and release information.

Records are continuously updated throughout incarceration to reflect changes in custody status, housing assignments, and disciplinary actions. The ID&R Division is responsible for maintaining all of this information from the point of booking through release. Three deputy clerks, a bond clerk, and a part-time clerk staff the division under a supervising lieutenant.

Some records are exempt from public release. Active investigation files, juvenile records, medical information, and victim personal data are typically withheld. If a request touches those areas, the office may seek a ruling from the Texas Attorney General. Booking records do not indicate guilt. They reflect charges at the time of arrest, not court outcomes.
